African Head Wrap: How to Accessorize Your Head Wraps.

Adding more fancy and making your head wrap even more regal is so easy to do.

Here's what you need:

1)  Your favorite scarf or fabric. (Cotton, pashmina, and jersey knit are great options for wrapping, and 2.5 to 3 yards are good to start with, depending on the style.)

2)  Your favorite accessories.  (Long, narrow, rectangular scarves, necklaces, brooches, even some earrings work well.)

Here's what you do:

1)  Tie your head in your favorite wrap style.

2)  Artfully place the accessory of choice among the folds of your crown, and you're done!

DIY Twist Headband - Tutorial (Type 4 Natural Hair Texture)

Wash N Go with D.I.Y. Twisted Headband - I Am RallyGirl

So, we've all seen the silky straight braided headbands right? Well, I thought it would be a BRILLIANT idea to make one that looks more like my natural hair texture!

This project is so inexpensive, and easy; it feeds so many parts of my soul, that I'm still tickled about it.  LOL  Watch this video and learn to make your own twisted headband.  For this tutorial, I used Marley Braiding Hair, but you can put your own spin on it, with any type of hair you choose, like Cuban Twist Havana Braiding Hair, or even the pre-twisted Havana Mambo Twist Hair.  Enjoy!

African Head Wrap: Easy D.I.Y. Head Wrap!

I'm a huge fan of fabrics; when it comes to color, pattern, and texture I can't get enough!   The problem is I don't like to sew.  Thankfully, I loves a good head wrap though!  They're among my favorite protective style options.

I get my head wraps from everywhere, but the most fun place is from my closet.  I'm a creative and an upcycler by nature, so it's only NATURAL (see what I did there?) that I repurpose articles of clothing into something I can rock in a different way!  

You can do it too!  You only need 2 items for this project:

- Fabric Shears
- A Skirt (broomstick, peasant, or gypsy skirts work great)

TIP:  Silky fabrics are quite slippery and difficult to keep in place.  The best fabrics for my wraps are cotton, or rayon blend.

1.) Lay skirt on a flat surface.

2.) Cut off the waist band.

3.) Cut all the way along a side or back seam. 

4.) Voila!  You have yourself a beautiful piece of fabric; perfect for a head wrap!
